An attorney and an avid maker of sawdust

Patrick Nolan, Skilled Trades staff, at the 2026 National Jamboree
Patrick Nolan, Black Diamond District, Great River Council.

Patrick Nolan has known Matthew Pigg for ten years of Scouting. Matt is the Nampa-Tsi Lodge OA Adviser; Patrick serves as an associate adviser. When Matt was putting his team together for the Jamboree, Patrick was already planning to come, so he offered to help within his abilities.

He is careful about where that line sits. He is an attorney and an avid maker of sawdust, and he will tell you there is a massive difference between a hobbyist and a professional tradesman. So he serves in an administrative capacity and fills in where he is needed: teaching basic skills, how to read a tape measure, plumbing and carpentry tasks that do not need a license to demonstrate.

The family stake here is not small. His son is the current Lodge Chief, and is serving in Operation Arrow at this Jamboree along with seven other youth from their OA Lodge.

"When they come back to this camp, they will always be able to say, 'I helped build that.'"

That is the part he keeps coming back to while the crew finishes setup. The Scouts arriving this week are walking into one of the sites they will talk about for the rest of their lives. Years from now they will drive back onto this property, look at a bunk house or a station wall, and know whose hands were on it.
