It is done. The Hope Legacy Trailer was finished on site and rolled out under the lights at closing ceremonies last night, in front of the whole Jamboree.
This morning the program area looks like the opposite of a build. Tools are going back in their boxes, the tents are coming down, and the site is being broken down to bare ground. Finished, but not done; that last part is the job nobody photographs.
Over the week, Scouts put more than 3,000 hours into that trailer. Plumbing, wiring, framing, sheet metal, shiplap, siding. Most of them had never held some of those tools before they walked up to our tent.
That was the whole point. Exposure, teaching, training. The trailer is just what they have to show for it, and it goes on from here to get used year round. Every Scout who picked up a tool this week left knowing a little more about how the built world gets built, and who builds it.
